Managing your television subscription efficiently can save you a noticeable amount of money each month. If you are paying for individual (a-la-carte) channels or specific add-on packs on your Airtel Digital TV (DTH) connection that nobody in your household watches anymore, getting rid of them is a straightforward process.
Managing your plan doesn’t require a tech expert or a call to customer support. Several convenient methods allow you to drop unwanted channels in just a few minutes.
Method 1: Using the Airtel Thanks App (Recommended)
For smartphone users, the Airtel Thanks app provides the most visual and user-friendly way to manage your channel lineup.
- Open the App: Launch the Airtel Thanks app on your registered mobile device.
- Navigate to DTH: Tap on the Services or Manage tab, and select your DTH / Digital TV account.
- Modify Plan: Look for options like Change Plan, Modify Pack, or Manage TV Channels.
- Select Channels to Remove: Go to your active or a-la-carte channels list, find the specific channel you want to unsubscribe from, and select the Remove or uncheck option.
- Review and Confirm: Check the summary of your updated monthly pack, confirming the price adjustment, and tap Confirm or Proceed.
Your changes will typically process and reflect on your television within a few minutes.
Method 2: Unsubscribing via SMS
If you prefer not to use an app, a quick text message from your registered mobile number (RMN) gets the job done.
- Find the Channel Number: Note down the exact channel number of the channel you wish to remove.
- Draft the Message: Type an SMS in the following format:
REM <Channel Number>(For example: if you want to remove channel 150, typeREM 150) - Send to: Send this text message to 54325 from your registered mobile number.
- Confirm: You will receive a confirmation prompt or return message. Follow any brief instructions provided in the reply to finalize the deletion.
Method 3: Using Your TV Screen (Channel 998)
You can also handle your subscription directly through your television set using your remote control.
- Turn on your TV and Airtel DTH set-top box.
- Tune directly to Channel 998.
- Follow the on-screen menu instructions provided on the interactive help page to view your current active package and select channels for removal.
- The screen will generate a confirmation code or instruction to send a verification text from your registered mobile number to complete the update.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Billing Adjustments: When you drop an a-la-carte channel, the network capacity fee (NCF) or individual channel cost is adjusted according to regulatory guidelines, usually reflecting on your next billing cycle or balance deduction.
- Registered Mobile Number: Always use your primary registered phone number for SMS methods, as requests from unverified numbers will be rejected for security reasons.
